We believe that the history of music is incomplete without the vibrant, rebellious sounds of the Asian continent. Our archives explore a three-decade explosion of creativity:

• The 1960s: The birth of the “Shake” and “Group Sounds” scenes. We track the moment the British Invasion met local traditions, resulting in raw Garage Punk, Surf-Rock, and the infectious “Pop Cutie” melodies of Japan and Singapore.

• The 1970s: The era of Psychedelic Soul and heavy Funk. From the fuzzed-out Anatolian Rock of Turkey to the hypnotic disco-funk dancefloors of Taiwan and Thailand, we celebrate the artists who pushed the boundaries of the groove.

• The 1980s: A transition into City Pop, electronic experimentation, and sophisticated Asian groove, where traditional sensibilities met the neon-lit future.
